Madison Community Arts
Center, 10 Kings Road, Madison, New Jersey
A fairy tale for the
family to enjoy during the holiday season.
In addition to Hansel and
Gretel, three legendary fairy tale characters also inhabit the forest.
The Sandman mysteriously arrives every night to help us go to sleep.
The Dew Fairy awakens us to a magical world in which the forest
sparkles in the dawn sun. The Gingerbread Man helps the witch until
released from her spell.
Soprano Pati Link
(The Sandman) is a retired teacher who has taught
music, elementary school, technology, and gifted and talented
education. After several seasons of summer stock, she
earned her degree in music education as a voice major at Montclair
State University. She has worked as a church soloist, performed at
charity benefits, and sung with a German
dance band. She is making her operatic debut with this performance of
Hansel & Gretel!
Soprano Dorothy
Dobkowski (The Dew Fairy) is overjoyed to be part
of this enchanting and delightful ensemble. Dorothy is an actor
with The Xavier Company touring drama group, a
founding member of The Jalm Experience cabaret ensemble and
co-hosts The 'Cantor'-bury Tales podcast with Nikki
Casseri. She sings regularly at St. Philip the Apostle Church in
Clifton, various churches in North Jersey and wherever the musical wind
opens a door! "Many thanks to Bob for his outstanding musical
direction, patience and kindness; the talented cast for their
flexibility and welcome; Emily for her inspired and tireless direction
and creativity; and Frank for the introduction, years ago, to Emily and
to her mom, the wonderful Marian Thompson - the most encouraging,
sparkling diamond of a voice teacher whose gifts and memory remain as
vibrant as ever."
Tom Loughman (The
Gingerbread Man) first appeared in an opera as one of
the courtiers in Opera at Florham's production of Rigoletto. He
is one of New Jersey's leading supernumeraries - a character who is
integral to the story, but rarely has any speaking or singing. He has
appeared with Eastern Opera, Opera Theater, and many BONJ opera
performances including works by Verdi, Puccini, Mozart, Strauss, and
Donizetti. He premiered the role of
one of the detectives in The Tell-Tale Heart, an
opera by Maestro Butts.
