Free art studio space! And other 14C news as we end one busy year and look ahead to a busier year

 

Project 14C special project residency   2024 look back   2025 look ahead     As Project 14C begins accepting artists for 12-month residencies in 2025 - the plan is for 10 artists to enter the program each month - we are simultaneously launching a one-time-only mini-residency on the 4th floor of our facility, lasting just over 2 months. It's designed for artists who need some extra space to accomplish a project, and all projects must be completed by April 11. We have 24 loft studio spaces, all with high ceilings, concrete floors and natural light from large windows - sizes range from 877 sq ft (81.5 sq m) to 1504 sq ft (140 sq m). We're looking for projects from any discipline - visual, literary or performing arts.   There is no application fee, but there are some restrictions.   Get more info and apply!     2024 was an amazing year for 14C!     In 2024 Art Fair 14C Inc became ARTS 14C, an arts organization that included among its programs the Art Crawls, the Jersey City Art & Studio Tour, Gallery 14C, Art Fair 14C and Project 14C. We moved our offices to the 6th floor of 157B 1st Street in downtown Jersey City - space that will house both Project 14C and the 6th Edition of Art Fair 14C. Applications for both are open now. 2024 was always intended to be a quiet building and visioning year for 14C - we announced in that fall of 2023 that the 6th Edition of the fair would be in the spring of 2025 - and it has been an incredibly busy year for us! Publicly, we conducted five Art Crawls, expanding to three different neighborhoods beyond Downtown thanks to the underwriting support of Goldman Sachs. Thanks to your support and generosity, we finished 3rd among Hudson County nonprofits during the fundraiser Hudson Gives. (The 7th annual Hudson Gives is May 8, 2025 - mark your calendar!) 14C was also the organizer for the 35th Annual Jersey City Art & Studio Tour in October, and Gallery 14C hosted multiple exhibitions - at Art150 and in Miami during Art Week.     Behind the scenes, 2024 was filled with ambitious plans and complex negotiations. We learned a lot about real estate, insurance, zoning and residency program administration. We are hugely grateful for those who provided extraordinary and enthusiastic help to 14C throughout this adventurous year: Julia Camacho and the staff of GFP Real Estate; Mike DeMarco and Deidre Crockett of Exchange Place Alliance; Donald Pepe and Patrick Conlon from Scarinci Hollenbeck; and so many (so many) insurance professionals, all of whom were patient and creative while dealing with an underwriting unicorn. And our greatest appreciation goes to Jeffrey Gural, who is allowing 14C to create what will be a unique and transformative arts program in Project 14C - providing 125,000 square feet of beautiful arts live/work space in the Powerhouse Arts District of Jersey City. Gural's incredible generosity also extends to a donation of $5 million to help us build a program that benefits both artists and the greater community. Massive thanks to Jeffrey Gural for his philanthropy and support of the arts!     2025 is going to be an incredible year     In 2025 there will be be: ·     Art Crawls (1st two dates: April 11, 2025 and May 9, 2025, both Downtown) ·     the 6th Edition of Art Fair 14C (applications due February 3, 2025) ·     Project 14C's residency program launches, including the mini-residency from February 1-April 13.
