Junebug is a
12-year-old African American boy in the 1960s South who raises his
voice to confront the inequities of school segregation. “Lift Every
Voice” is a multimedia play exploring the spirit, images, and music of
mid-century America during the Civil Rights Movement. Historical
touchstones include the Montgomery Bus Boycott, the Little Rock Nine,
the Greensboro Sit-ins, the Freedom Fighters, and the Civil Rights
Movement. This play
with music offers a pathway to understanding and compassion for young
learners. “…A Letter to the Editor” resonates with the voice in
everyone to fight against injustice. (appropriate for grades 4 through 8) https://pushcartplayers.org/lift-every-voice/ |
