Harmonium Presents A Halloween Concert for All Ages This Saturday Night

HALLOWEEN CONCERT

WHEN: Saturday, October 26th, 7 p.m.
WHERE:

Grace Church, 4 Madison Ave. at Kings Rd., Madison NJ.
ADMISSION
Freewill donations at the door help defray our costs and we encourage you to bring a non-perishable food donation as well for the local food bank.  A reception follows. Costumes welcome. The Halloween Concert has been a part of the Madison community every other year for over 30 years.

It’s back! The bi-annual, family-friendly Halloween Concert presented by Harmonium Choral Society and Grace Community Music returns!

The concert will feature the Grace Church School Choirs (15 choristers ages 7-18), the teen tenor/bass a cappella ensemble, The Gargoyles, the Harmonium Outreach Chorus, The New Jersey Youth Chorus treble boys Coro Vivo, spooky organ music, and more. It is appropriate for kids, but adults love it as well.

The concert is filled with musical gems from Bach’s “Toccata in d minor” (organ pedals and keyboard projected on the wall) to Rossini’s “Cat Duet.” The Grace School Choirs will sing some favorites including “The Castle of Dromore” and “O Ye Badgers and Hedgehogs.” Harmonium selections include “Monster Mash” and the hilarious “Lambscapes.” New this year, “Imaginary Creatures” by Andrea Ramsey, setting poems by young children about dragons, mermaids and unicorns. Combined finales include “All God’s Critters” and “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” with Julian Cartwright, fiddle.

Dr. Anne Matlack directs the choirs at Grace and the 100-voice Harmonium Choral Society, including the Outreach Chorus which is available to sing in the schools and retirement communities.  She holds degrees from Yale University and Cincinnati Conservatory. Special guest choir Coro Vivo are the 3-8th grade treble boys’ ensemble from The New Jersey Youth Chorus (now part of Wharton Arts), directed by Dan Malloy.
