Dear Friends,
How quickly
September has arrived, and with it, cool morning temperatures and
sunny, drier days that herald the promise of fall’s arrival. The
gardens at Greenwood are simply luscious, punctuated by
pollinators that dance from flower to flower, demonstrating their
“networking” skills, much to our great fortune. Antique ornaments
placed in nooks and crannies throughout the garden cause us to
pause and enter into a silent dialogue with them. And the
soothing babble of water flowing through fountains at the Reflecting
Pool Terrace and the Garden of the Gods reminds us of the
importance of life’s simple pleasures. At Greenwood, it seems,
nature, history, and art conspire to rejuvenate all your
senses.
You can expand your experience of the gardens by sampling an
eclectic selection of programs at Greenwood this month including:
- An
ethereal performance by Lori Bellilove & the Isadora
Duncan Dancers
- A
lecture by noted architectural historian Janet Foster who
will offer a fascinating overview of the vast array of
building materials found at Greenwood, many of them in place
since the 1920’s
- En
plein air painting, sketching, and photography
- A
concert by Lyrica Chamber Music’s world-class
musicians

As the change in season approaches, consider giving thought
to how you might help sustain Greenwood’s mission of connecting
people with nature and the arts in a historic garden oasis
so it can be enjoyed by the public for years to come. We welcome
your support through our new planned giving program, The
Greenwood Gardens Legacy Society. For more information, please click
here.
Enjoy the remaining days of summer!
