Mad Art Supper Club
Open Mic
Night!
September
29, 2024, at 4:00 pm
Rockafeller’s Kitchen
(421 Prospect Street, Long Branch)
Dear founding members of the Mad Art Supper
Club;
Feel free to share with a friend or bring them as your guest.
We all had such a great time and such great food and poetry.
A member of the press has been invited to cover this new open
microphone event for new poets and poetry.
Summary quick notes:
- There
will be a sign-in sheet and generally, performance readers will go in order of
sign-in, but all have the option of waiving their slot
to the next reader. Heck, maybe you’re there for just
the great meal.
- Timeframe
is to meet and greet from
4:00 pm to 4:30 pm. Rockafeller’s allows BYOB so
feel free to bring a bottle for a relaxing pre-dinner beverage
before dinner. As always, moderate consumption
encouraged!
- Dinner will start at 4:30 pm and last
until 5:00 pm. I’ll have a few
brief remarks before we start the readings.
- Performance
readers can read for the group any selection they wish; however, the event is focused on new or
evolving work. Readers can read
as many as five pieces, but
ask that total reading time be under seven minutes.
This is more generous than other Open Mic gatherings
that I’ve been at in the last several years.
- If you
like, please bring a printed copy of one of your readings.
Toying with the concept of creating a mini-chapbook that
can be shared via the Spoken Word Poetry newsletter.
Great way to share your work, gain exposure and build
community!
- Readings will end no later than 6:15 pm.
There will be a short set of closing remarks and
discussion.
- There will be three door prizes! WooHoo!
- There
will be a few other resources for sharing as well.
- If you’d like at add a friend at the last
minute, the payment link is below. Please no later than
noon the day before. That’s when I’ll call Rico about
the number attending. He’s also offering a vegan option
for our reserved guests, but please let us know ahead of time!

Project Write Now—Upcoming Events!
|
|
Dear friends;
Project Write Now is celebrating their 10th
anniversary in 2024! If you are not familiar with them as a
writer of any genre; you should become acquainted. They have
a valuable programming to writers who are looking to develop their
skills. I have found my affiliation with them as invaluable.
Please consider attending one of their classes. Or help
us celebrate together their 10 year milestone on September 22, 2024
on the ‘Ripples of Hope’ cruise out of Atlantic Highlands. Click
below for details!
In peace,
Robert Goodman, Spoken Word Poetry
