Violinist Alyson
Whelan — Mendelssohn Soloist
Alyson Whelan performs
with orchestras throughout the Metropolitan Area, including the New
York Gilbert and Sullivan Players.
Alyson began touring
internationally at the age of 12 and has performed in Canada, Europe,
and Asia as well as around the United States.
With The Baroque
Orchestra of New Jersey, Alyson has been soloist in concertos by Wolfgang Amadeus
Mozart, Johann Sebastian Bach,
and The Chevalier
de Saint Georges.
Alyson is a noted
interpreter of contemporary music and has premiered several works
by New Jersey composers David Williams and Michael DeMaio. She appears
regularly in the BONJ sponsored "The New Contemporary"
series at the Madison Community
Arts Center.
Alyson also performs as a
Celtic violinist and has performed
with Celtic Women
and Celtic Thunder.
Alyson will be
soloist for the orchestra's performance of Felix Mendelssohn's Violin
Concerto at our Spring concert.
