Bell Theater, Central Jersey’s newest
home for arts and entertainment, at Bell Works in Holmdel, opens May 3
with the world premiere of EAST CARSON STREET, a new
rock musical by iconic Pittsburgh musician Joe
Grushecky, well known for his work with the Iron City Houserockers
and his collaborations with Bruce Springsteen, who co-wrote
two songs in the musical
Celebrating America's resilience and goal of becoming a
"more perfect union,” East Carson Street is the
sweeping story spanning four decades and three generations of a
hardworking Pittsburgh family. Crime, drugs and recession in 1980s
Pittsburgh turned the lives of its citizens upside-down, as families
were torn apart and young people sought better lives elsewhere. Fast
forward to the 2020s and Pittsburgh, with its focus now on innovation,
medicine and technology, has once again become one of America's great
cities.
