The Maplewood Strollers is seeking a multi-ethnic cast
of strong singer-actors for the world premiere of
BEETHOVEN’S
WRONG NOTE: A STEAMPUNK OPERA
a comedic romp as Ludwig van
Beethoven strives to write “the greatest opera yet written,” with
book and lyrics by Jay
Stephenson, direction by Jay Kamen,
and musical direction by James Higgins.
AUDITIONS are Mon, March 18th, and Tues,
March 19th, from 7-10 PM, at The
Burgdorff Center, 10 Durand Rd, Maplewood, NJ 07040.
(Callbacks are Wed, March 20th.)
SINGERS
SHOULD PREPARE up to a minute of an aria, art
song, or legitimate musical theater song. (Please no rock/pop
or contemporary musical theater song.) Sides for readings will be
provided and are also available on our website: www.TheStrollers.org.
ALSO SEEKING
2 young dancers ages 14-early 20’s, one male and one female, as
featured dancers.

Singer); 20 - 30 years, “Star quarterback type.” Handsome,
talented, well-meaning, but unsophisticated.
- ANNA MILDER - Dramatic
Soprano: Prima Donna (Opera Singer); 19 - 29
years, Elegant and Sophisticated; wants to sing the
title role in Beethoven's opera “Leonora.”
- PETER VON
BRAUN - Bass: Lessee of the rival Berg Theatre; 40
- 50 years, comprimario role; Robber Baron who covets the Theater
an der Wien.

RIES - Soubrette Soprano (Legit & Pop
Rock Singer): Carl’s Girlfriend; 18 - 25 years, Cute
kleptomaniac, clever but also insecure about not yet being married.

BEETHOVEN - Tenor (Legit & Pop Rock
Singer): Brother and Business Manager; 25 - 35 years, Varlet
and Salesman. Self-proclaimed “glue” of the Beethoven music
enterprise.

BEETHOVEN - Bari-Tenor: Composer; 30 - 40
years, Hopes to run away to Paris with his Immortal Beloved. A
proto version of the famed artist.
