WHEN: Mon, Mar 4. Film screening @ 6PM, Panel conversation @
7 – 8:30PM
WHERE: Chase Room, NJPAC, 1 Center Street, Newark, NJ
The murder of 11
worshippers in the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh in 2018 was the
largest antisemitic attack in U.S. history. In the aftermath, interfaith
groups rallied for their Jewish neighbors in meaningful ways — including
attending memorials, raising money for funerals and spearheading advocacy
campaigns to combat gun violence.
With a national uptick in hate crimes against religious, racial and
LGBTQ+ groups, among others, it’s time to ignite the power of interfaith
cooperation to effect change.
Join us for an abridged screening of A
Tree of Life: The Pittsburgh Synagogue Shooting followed by a
panel conversation with national and local faith leaders on how to build
unity to confront all forms of hate.
This program is produced by NJPAC’s Black
and Jewish Understanding Project and Standing in Solidarity.
Please note that Rev. Davie, through his work with the US Commission on
International Religious Freedom, has been called to Saudi Arabia and is
no longer able to participate.
We are happy that Dr.
David Jefferson, Jr. will be joining Ambassador Suzan Johnson Cook,
Imam Mohamed Magid
and Rabbi Matthew
Gewirtz on the panel. Learn more about our panelists here.
