The performance will also feature Maestro Jason Tramm leading the Light Opera of New Jersey Orchestra. A quick-witted barber named Figaro tries to help a young woman escape an unwanted marriage and find true love. Nothing goes according to plan, and Figaro must think on his feet to save the day. The Barber of Seville is considered to be one of the greatest masterpieces of comedy within music. The competition will consist of a qualifying round based on videos that students submit online, followed by a semifinal round on April 6 at 10 AM in South Orange, NJ and the finals on April 21st at 2 PM in Basking Ridge, NJ. Prizes are $1000 for first place, $500 for second and $250 for third as determined by the judges, $100 for the audience favorite, and performance opportunities with LONJ for the upcoming season.
