Bullying Prevention

You're never too young to learn compassion.

This March, Pushcart presents two excellent musicals for young audiences that support character education through engaging
social-emotional learning.

The cast of "Outta' This World: The Adventures of Kalien the Alien" (L to R) Danny Sims, Joshua Hendricks, Tomo Watanabe, Jason Pumarada, Aycka Lima

A rock musical for children

Music & Lyrics by Ray Andersen ("mr. RAY")

Book by Sheryl Berk

“…Kalien the Alien” is the story of a young accidental visitor from another planet to Earth. Seeking help at the local elementary school, Kalien interacts, sometimes comically, with their Earthling contemporaries. Throughout one magical day, our alien learns -- and teaches -- about anti-bullying, kindness, and fun! Social-emotional development and poignant understanding of equity, diversity, accessibility, and inclusion come to life for Pushcart's young learners.

The cast of "Velveteen Rabbit" (L to R) Serena Buchan, Dana Patrice, Danny Sims,

Phebe Taylor, Paul Whelihan

Book by Paul Whelihan

Music & Lyrics by Paul Farinella

A young boy’s love and a little nursery magic help transform the Velveteen Rabbit from a favorite plaything into a real rabbit. The Boy and Velveteen embark on exciting imaginary adventures, from deep dark caves to the wide open sea, and together they learn the true meaning of friendship in this musical re-telling of one of America’s favorite storybooks. "Velveteen Rabbit" stresses the importance of empathy, a healthy self-image, and respect for others.
