Auditions for the
Musical:

The
Chatham Players will hold additions auditions for the musical, NINE
with music & lyrics by Maury Yeston and book by Arthur Kopit WHEN: Sunday, February 4, at 6:00
pm. Actors must check in to the auditions by 6:30pm. WHERE: The Chatham Playhouse 23 North Passaic Ave. Chatham.
Production dates are
May 3 - 18, 2024. Elizabeth Rogers directs and Emily Bengels is the
Musical Director with Amanda Pappa and Matt Mancuso as the
Choreographers.
Actors will be asked to sing 16 bars from a piece similar to the style
of “NINE.” We are looking for actors and singers of all ethnicities and
backgrounds. Based on timing, actors may be asked to stay for some
additional work. Please be aware that these auditions will be recorded.

Set in the mountains of Connemara,
County Galway, THE BEAUTY QUEEN OF LEENANE tells the darkly comic tale
of Maureen Folan, a plain and lonely woman in her early forties, and
Mag, her manipulative aging mother, whose interference in Maureen’s
first and possibly final chance of a loving relationship sets in motion
a train of events that leads inexorably towards the play’s terrifying
dénouement.

Chatham Community Players’ black box
series, One Weekend Only, wraps up its 2nd Season holding auditions for
Nick Payne’s CONSTELLATIONS,
directed by Felicity Winter. One Weekend Only was born of the desire to
find a dedicated place at the theater for a different kind of
production. These shows have smaller casts, smaller sets, and are
staged up close our audiences. The subject matter may be challenging.
The humor may be on the dark side. The drama may be intense.
WHEN: Monday,
March 11th, and Tuesday, March 12th, at 7:00 pm. Actors are asked to check in by 7:30 pm, unless previously arranged with the production team. WHERE: The Chatham Playhouse 23 North Passaic Ave. Chatham, NJ. Performances are June 7-9, 2024 with rehearsals to begin
in late March. Actors will be asked to read from sides provided below
at the audition.

The Chatham Community Players’ Spring
Cabaret Weekend seeks singers from throughout NJ
community theatre for a performance that celebrates love in all its
many forms —first love, last love, platonic love, unrequited love,
unexpected love, parental love, true love, lost love, and more! The
evening will be produced and directed by Susan Speidel and musical
direction by Joseph Regan.
WHEN: Sunday,
March 10th, at 7:00 pm and Wednesday, March 13th, at
7:30 pm WHERE: The Chatham Playhouse 23 North Passaic Ave.
Chatham, NJ. Performances are April 12 & 13, 2024 at 7:00 pm.
Tentative Rehearsals are schedule for April 1, 3, 7, 8, 9, and 10.

Theater Classes
April 16 - June 4

Chatham Players is offering an
eight-week session of after school theater classes on WHEN: Tuesday
Afternoons from April 16 through June 4, 2024. WHERE: Chatham Community
Players, 23 S. Passaic Avenue, Chatham, NJ TUITION: $120/class INSTRUCTOR: Dr. Susan Speidel, theatre arts educator and Education Coordinator
for Chatham Players.
Classes are open to students with all levels of experience, regardless
of whether or not they have had previous theater or acting training.
- THE JOY OF IMPROV (ages
12 to 17) - 3:30 to 4:30 pm. Students will explore
the fundamentals of improvisation through exercises and games
while developing spontaneity, playfulness, imagination, and
self-confidence. Listening and verbal skills will be
enhanced, as well as individual creativity.
- INTRODUCTION TO MUSICAL
THEATER (ages 7 to 11) – 4:30 to 5:30 pm. Designed for young
performers itching to get on stage, this class provides a
foundation in musical performance style and vocal technique and
will help them gain the confidence to stand center stage.
- ADVANCED MUSICAL
THEATRE (ages 12 to 17) – 5:30 to 6:30 pm. In a class designed for
students with previous training and/or experience in musical
theater, participants will nurture their emerging performance
skills, increase musicality and vocal technique, and enhance their
ability to act through a song.
