WHAT TO
PREPARE
Auditionees will sing
two song excerpts: one uptempo, and one ballad. At least one of these
must be in pop/rock/contemporary style of Footloose. Excerpts should be
16 bars long. Please bring sheet music in a binder for the accompanist,
with your cuts clearly marked. The acting segment of auditions will be
by cold reading only. No Monologues will be seen at this audition.
Auditionees should also prepare for and dress appropriately for a
movement audition unless they are only interested in the "adult
characters."

CHARACTERS
Ren McCormack (Lead -
M - HS Senior - Casting 18+ only - Any Ethnicity) – Pop/Rock Tenor.
Energetic, emotional, rebellious, likeable; emotes his pain through
quirky sarcasm and dance; strong dancer.
Ariel Moore (Lead - F
- HS Senior - Casting 18+ only - Any Ethnicity) – Mezzo-Pop. Smart, a
bit of the bad girl with an edge, sweet, the rebellious minister’s
daughter; role requires strong belt, must be a strong singer/dancer.
Rev. Shaw Moore -
(Lead - M - 40-60 - Any Ethnicity) – Baritone. The powerful,
traditional local church leader; strict, stern, and solemn, still
struggling with the death of his son.
Vi Moore -
(Supporting - F - 35-55 - Any Ethnicity) – Soprano. Reverend
Moore’s loving, supportive, resilient wife.
Rusty - (Supporting -
F - HS Senior - Casting 18+ only - Any Ethnicity) – Pop/Belt. Ariel’s
friend; a bit scatterbrained, sweet, fun, knows everything about
everything; role requires strong belt, strong comedic timing and dance.
Willard Hewitt -
(Supporting - M - HS Senior - Casting 18+ only - Any Ethnicity) –
Bari-Tenor. A simple country bumpkin with a warm heart and a big smile;
comedic timing and dance a must.
Ethel McCormack -

tough go, just trying to make it…would do anything for her son.
