Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart composed his opera Bastien und Bastienne at the age of twelve. It was one of the first operas in German and is filled with charming, exciting, and wonderful arias.

The story is about two young lovers and a village magician and his assistant.

The orchestra is thrilled to present this rarely heard gem featuring soprano Timothy Maureen Cole as Bastienne, tenor Dmitri Zigrino as Bastien, Jason Adamo as Colas the Magician, and Tom Loughman as his assistant.

A question often asked is "How do singers prepare a role?" The first task of course is to learn the music! Equally important is developing the character. Each character has a personality and a life that has to be conveyed through singing and acting, sometimes alone with a solo aria and sometimes in ensemble with other characters.

Bastien und Bastienne will be sung in English and will be the major work on the concert.

the music and how they approached developing their character.
