LOW KEY by Nick DeMarco
“Low Key” is a man who grieves the death of his lifelong
friend, Quilly. At the wake, he glorifies their high school years as
track stars, celebrates their past, and grapples with addiction issues,
searching for the way forward.
REVOLUTIONS by Gail Lou
Music by Shawn Lucas, Lyrics by Gail Lou
The opening scenes and first three songs of a new
musical theater piece in development. Two numbers have been
prerecorded as brief music videos; one number will be sung live.
ROCK VS DISCO: On the night of July 12, 1979, a Chicago
DJ detonated a dumpster at Cominsky Park filled with ‘Disco’ records.
It was a promotional stunt named "Disco Demolition Night",
that turned into a vicious riot, a riot against something other than
simply ‘disco’ records. In actuality, it was specifically aimed at the
music created by Black, Brown and Gay artists. REVOLUTIONS shows what
was happening in the music world that made some in the Rock community
want to destroy another American artform because they feared losing
their preferential treatment in the industry.
REVOLUTIONS is a musical created from the point of view
of a Black musician & vocalist, who was a part of that Dance music
scene and wishes to testify that "Disco" may have
"died", but the funky-dance-freedom-music that created
DISCO lives on.
