WP LATINIDAD CELEBRATION

Caña Dulce y Caña Brava

Spreading and recreating the traditional music of Veracruz, Mexico

OCTOBER 24 7:00 PM

Caña Dulce y Caña Brava recreates the music, poetry, dance, and traditional attire of Veracruz, Mexico, interpreted by artists who are beneficiaries of the son jarocho culture and noteworthy performers with years of experience. The group highlights feminine poetry and voices in a traditionally masculine musical tradition. Audiences are taken on a voyage through multiple rhythms, accompanied by traditional string instruments and the projection of vivid visual effects. The sounds of the strings interweave with the poetic messages written from a woman’s perspective, creating a facet not before seen within this musical genre.

Location: Shea Center for Performing Arts

Admission: Free and open to the public.

This event is supported by Mid Atlantic Arts Iber Exchange program in collaboration with Ibermúsicas and made possible through the generous support from the National Endowment for the Arts’ Regional Touring Program.

Is Blanche the suspect of a *real* murder?! Featuring parodies from Footloose the Musical, Elvis, Doris Day and even a Disco finale, this murder musical will make you clutch your pearls and your purse (which may or may not have an entire place setting in it) - "Not now Ma!"
