Vanguard Theater, located in the heart of downtown Montclair, NJ, has announced a year-long collaboration with Out Montclair, the 501(c)(3) nonprofit created to provide support for the LGBTQIA+ community, alongside Vanguard theater’s 2023-2024 MainStage Season!

“We are so excited for our continued partnership with Vanguard Theater Company,” states Out Montclair Managing Director, Marie Cottrell. The partnership includes two Drag shows (Halloween and PRIDE), and seven Sip ‘n’ Singspiano bar events with group singing and pop-up guest performances.

The first Sip ‘n’ Sing is Friday, September 22, 2023, where Rent Heads are invited to sip, sing, and celebrate around the score of Rent, the Musical. More information about the full schedule can be found on Vanguard’s website.

Vanguard Theater’s Mainstage Season Opener Lady Day at the Emerson Bar and Grill (Nov. 30 - Dec. 17), invites audiences to dive into the heart and soul of the legendary Billie Holiday in this intimate portrayal of her life and music, capturing the essence of a bygone era.

From March 22 - 24, Def Poetry Jam alum, Dahlak Brathwaite, brings Spiritrials, his hip-hop theater meditation on drug policy, racial profiling, and criminal justice system, and human imperfection to Vanguard, in a seamless flow of rap, song, and storytelling.

Closing the Mainstage season is Pippin (June 20 - July 7), a whimsical and daring musical theater adventure that dares to question the meaning of life and the pursuit of extraordinary experiences.

Each of Vanguard’s Mainstage productions will have a special Spotlight Series night dedicated to Out Montclair.
