Pushcart is pushing FIFTY!

 

 

"Word from the Village"    "It takes a village to raise a child" is a proverb that means an entire community of people must provide for and interact positively with children for those children to experience and grow in a safe and healthy environment.   Pushcart is pushing FIFTY!   And what an amazing journey it's been. Pushcart Players was founded in 1974 by Ruth Fost, Carole Wechter, and Gretchen Johnson. All three were theater artists, educators, and parents who identified the need for quality theater where the young people are -- in their schools.   Pushcart's earliest visits would be the first exposure to live theater for most of the children. Knowing this, the cofounders approached their audiences with respect, created material that would inform, inspire and challenge, and engaged leading artists and teachers to share the craft.   That approach continues as we enter our second half century. As we look back at our history, we want to share some images from our past.
