The History of Antisemitism: The Crusades

Wednesday, September 27 | 6:00 PM ET

 

When Pope Urban II gave a sermon in November 1095 about the “Holy Land,” he began the almost two-century-long military campaigns that we now know as the Crusades. As they sought control and territory, Crusaders massacred Jewish communities in France and Germany. These actions and rhetoric fueled widespread antisemitism, including specific conspiracies like blood libel.

In Real Times. Arthur Szyk: Artist and Soldier for Human Rights Fairfield University | September 29—December 16, 2023

This exhibition will feature approximately 50 original paintings and drawings, making it the largest Arthur Szyk exhibition in the New York/Connecticut area in almost 50 years. The Opening Night Lecture and Reception will begin at 5 p.m. on September 28.
