About
the Mural
Phillip’s mural is
inspired by the South Branch of the Raritan
River, flowing directly behind the terrace’s
retention wall and former chalkboard. This
composition creates an optical illusion of the
river, painting it as it flows south away from
the Museum.
The mural symbolizes
healing, rebirth, power, and life, and connects
to deeper ideas about creativity, curiosity,
and wonder. It will feature origami boats
floating downstream, each colored according to
the spectrum of the rainbow. These boats serve
as symbols of creativity, also representing the
art programs held by HAM for the past 70 years.
Everyone’s
Welcome
Come and explore the
mural’s deeper meanings with Phillip Adams.
Whether you want to ask questions, simply watch
him work, or engage in thoughtful dialogue
about the natural grading, cascade, connection
with local landscapes, and human ingenuity,
you’re free to choose your level of
involvement.
Solo
Exhibition Opening October 1
Don’t forget to mark your
calendars for Phillip Adams’ solo exhibition in
our main gallery, Leave No Trace,
opening on October 1.
In the event of inclement weather, the community chat will be held in the second-floor gallery.
