"GREAT WOMEN OF SONG" CONCERT THIS SUNDAY STARRING ART TOPILOW, AWARD WINNER DANNY BACHER AND ACCLAIMED VOCALISTS

Dr. Art Topilow and Danny Bacher

with Two Extraordinary Ladies for One Night

Jazz pianist extraordinaire Dr. Art Topilow returns for his popular summer concert, sharing the stage with his friend, the singer/saxophonist Danny Bacher, himself the recipient of the prestigious Margaret Whiting Award and hailed as one of NYC’s Best Male Jazz Vocalists.

The two have teamed up for multiple shows for the Axelrod and their combined energy together creates live jazz magic every time.

Danny, like everyone at the Axelrod, believes that “Art Topilow is a lovely person…. He works very hard as a doctor and as a musician. He always gives a great performance, especially for someone who doesn’t do it full-time. He’s a gifted and talented pianist. And if something goes wrong, there’s always a doctor in the house!”

The dynamic duo will be joined by two highly acclaimed, exceptionally gifted female vocalists Charenèe Wade and Nicole Zuraitis, paying tribute to legendary ladies of song like Ella Fitzgerald, Peggy Lee, Lena Horne, Billie Holliday, Judy Garland, and Sarah Vaughan plus some latter-day greats like Carole King, Whitney Houston, Roberta Flack and Aretha Franklin.  Joining this all-star lineup will be Gary Mazzaroppi (bass) and Dan Pugach (drums).

General admission tickets are $35 in advance and $45 at the door.

Meet Our Special Guests

Grammy–nominee Nicole Zuraitis is an in-demand jazz vocalist who performs regularly at Jazz at Lincoln Center and New York’s famed Birdland. A recent Broadway World review sums up Nicole’s unique gifts: “Nicole Zuraitis re-defining what, exactly, it is that the human voice can do…it is possible to gaze, spellbound by Nicole Zuraitis, as she turns her entire being into an instrument. It is as fascinating to watch as it is magnificent to hear.”

Award-winning vocalist Charenèe Wade is one of the most exciting, distinctive and bold young music talents on the rise today. A favorite vocalist of Wynton Marsalis at Jazz at Lincoln Center, Nicole is known for her expert vocal improvisational ability and her seriously swinging groove. She evokes a classic jazz sound akin to Sarah Vaughan and Betty Carter, two of her musical touchstones. The New York Times concurs and in a recent concert review described Nicole as “a jazz singer of commanding skill, an heir to the legacies of Betty Carter and Carmen McRae.”
