The NJ State Council on the Arts’ new Creative Aging Initiative program recently awarded grant funding to 22 New Jersey organizations.
Farmstead Arts, the only grant recipient in Somerset County, will be offering a
customized art experience to adults aged 55 and older, helping to enhance
overall wellness, build community, and diminish issues of isolation. Friends of
the KMS Farmstead Board President Leslie Workman is excited that Farmstead Arts
was selected to participate. “The CAI grant program is a wonderful opportunity
for older adults to explore their creative side. We’re hoping this series of
free classes brings new faces to the Farmstead.”
For Margaret Fanning, art has been woven into her life from a young age. Influenced and encouraged by her grandmother, Margaret explored new worlds with the pastels and watercolor paints she found in her grandmother’s studio. Margaret continued to study art and attended Savannah College of Art & Design where she earned her BFA in Painting.
Margaret’s work has been exhibited globally and her art can be found in private collections throughout the U.S. She has won multiple awards including the Alexander Portfolio Award and the NJ Chapter of the American Artists Professional League Traditional Realism Award. She currently teaches at the Farmstead Arts Center in Basking Ridge, NJ and the Hunterdon Art Museum in Clinton, NJ. For further information and work samples, visit: www.margaretfanning.com.
This program is
made possible by funds from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, a partner
agency of the National Endowment for the Arts.
