Jazz on the Back Deck

Legendary singer, actor and activist, Harry Belafonte leaves the world a musical legacy unlike anyone else's. His singular rich baritone brought Calypso into the popular musical psyche when he became the first single musical artist to sell over one million copies of a record. What's more, Belafonte lent the richness of his voice and spirit to music that is held sacred by a vast array of cultures and ethnic groups with his landmark 1959 live recording from Carnegie Hall that featured now iconic renditions of works like "Danny Boy", "Shenandoah", and "Hava Nagila".

Join Amani as they celebrate and honor the rich musical legacy of Harry Belafonte a mere three months after his death in a concert that they have been preparing specifically for The Back Deck for two years. Amani has built a reputation in New Jersey for great music and fun times. Vocalist Stephen Fuller brings familiar favorites new life backed by the jazz stylings of Amani. Amani was the first ensemble to ever perform on The Back Deck in July 2020 and has been featured on every subsequent season performing to sell-out crowds.
