Sunday, May 7th, 3:00PM

Afternoon Music presents Dan Nimmer, celebrated pianist with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, in a duo setting with bassist David Wong. Dan and David are internationally known, long-time collaborators and this is a chance to hear them in Beacon's acoustically superb sanctuary. They will play favorite standards as well as some of Dan's own compositions.

Dan Nimmer is originally from Milwaukee, WI, studied at Northern Illinois and became one of Chicago's busiest piano players. He decided to leave school to move to NYC where within a year he became a member of the Wynton Marsalis Quintet. He has performed and recorded with Jimmy Cobb, Norah Jones, Willie Nelson, Renée Fleming, Houston Person, Fareed Haque, George Benson, Lewis Nash, and many more. Dan has released six of his own albums on the Venus label (Japan.)

Bassist David Wong was born and raised in New York City and is a graduate of the LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and the Performing Arts, and the Juilliard School. As part of the Eric Reed Trio, Wong performed in Switzerland, Scotland, the Hollywood Bowl (Los Angeles), the Algonquin Hotel (New York City), and with Jazz at Lincoln Center, as well as at many other venues worldwide. He is currently a member of Roy Haynes’ Fountain of Youth band, as well as bassist with the Heath Brothers quartet, led by jazz legends Jimmy and Albert “Tootie” Heath. Wong was the bassist on Samara Joy's album 'Linger Awhile' which won this year's Grammy for Best Jazz Vocal Album.
