SVP Casting Call Alert: "Guys and Dolls"

Somerset Valley Players   "Yes, we are the little red schoolhouse!"       Auditions at SVP Guys and Dolls WHEN: Saturday, April 21, 12:00 PM and Sunday, April 22, 7:00 PM WHERE: SVP Theatre,  689 Amwell Road,  Hillsborough, NJ     Synopsis: Set in Damon Runyon's mythical New York City, Guys and Dolls is an oddball romantic comedy. Gambler Nathan Detroit tries to find the cash to set up the biggest craps game in town while the authorities breathe down his neck; meanwhile, his girlfriend and nightclub performer Adelaide laments that they've been engaged for fourteen years. Nathan turns to fellow gambler, Sky Masterson, for the dough, and Sky ends up chasing the strait-laced missionary, Sarah Brown, as a result.  Guys and Dolls takes us from the heart of Times Square to the cafes of Havana, Cuba, and even into the sewers of New York City, but eventually everyone ends up right where they belong.   Performance Dates: July 14th through 30th, Friday, Saturday, & Sunday   Director Tori Clemens is seeking the following:   12-17 Males (Playing Age 20+) 10-14 Females (Playing Age 20+)    Character Gender/Age Range Description   Sky Masterson M 30+ Charming charismatic gambler who goes through a major transformation during show with help from Sarah. Oozes style. (Strong baritone)   Sarah Brown F 20's-30's Pretty, bright eyed woman who serves as Sergeant of the local Mission, idealistic and sheltered.(Strong Soprano)   Nathan Detroit M 30+ Humorous Manipulator/Gambler. Facilitator of illegal gambling. Fiancé of Adelaide. Waiting for big break. (Baritone with comic timing)   Adelaide F 30-40 Strong comic and classic show girl in love with her forever fiancé Nathan. (Comic timing and singing)   Nicely Nicely Johnson M 20+ Nicest and cheeriest of gamblers. High spirited, sincere and genuine. (Comic timing and Strong Tenor)   Benny Southstreet M 20+ Nathan’s right-hand man and a gambler. (Strong baritone who can move)   Arvide Abernathy 50+ Older leader of Mission, Warm heart and a bit gullible, Family to Sarah (Choral singer) Male or Female   Lt Brannigan M 35+ By-the-book police officer who is engaged in a battle of wits with Nathan Detroit.   General Cartwright 40-50 Regional Director of the mission. Authoritative but motivated by charity.   Gamblers 20+ Variety of men from all over looking for the next best crap game (Rusty Charlie, Big Jule, Angie the Ox, Harry the Horse, Liver Lips Louis, and more) (Ability to Dance/Move as an ensemble)   Mission Band Members 18+ Members of the mission who follow Sarah to save souls. (Choral singers)   Hot Box Dancers F 18-35 Showgirls who work with Adelaide in the Hot Box dreaming of bigger things.
