Coming up at SOMA Stage!

Announcing the

SOMA backStage Reading Series

The SOMA backStage Reading Series was created to provide a platform for new plays and musicals to be showcased in a public presentation.  You will get the unique opportunity to see these new works in their earliest form and provide feedback to help shape the future of their development. Through SOMA backStage, writers are given the invaluable resources to develop their shows and have their vision come to life. In our inaugural year, we are so excited that both pieces selected are written by local SOMA writers as well!

Filled with Broadway professionals and cast almost entirely with NJ locals, we are so excited to showcase the incredible talent we have right here in our backyard.

I hope you’ll come and join us for what is sure to be a thrilling and special theatrical experience. There is nothing quite like the energy that is felt when a new piece gets in front of an audience for the first time. Your support is instrumental to the development of these new and exciting works.

Reserve your seats now! Tickets are free with a $15 suggested donation.

Upcoming Concerts

Experience Tony-Award winner Laura Benanti, as she joins forces with her mother, Linda, in a touchingly humorous show about mother-daughter relationships.

Eleri Ward took social media by storm with her groundbreaking fusion of Broadway and Indie-Folk and her "incandescent" reimagination of Sondheim classics (American Theatre Magazine) on her new album A Perfect Little Death.

We are so excited to have partnered with the South Orange Performing Arts Center! SOMA Stage and Artistic Director Dana Spialter have been selected to represent the Broadway branch of the newly formed Creative Community Brain Trust. The CCBT is a committee of five advisors and industry experts that will guide SOPAC toward inclusively excellent, radically creative, and community-powered programming.
