A New
Arrangement in the Garden

Dear
Ruth,
Every day now, the garden continues to wake from its winter
slumber. As if conducting a symphony, Mother Nature has been
cuing the members of her orchestra, one by one, to play their
part. The “performance” began with the early debut of the
snow drops and hellebores, followed by the cheerful arrival of the
crocuses and daffodils. Then in a slow crescendo, the
magnolias and cherry trees have started chiming in with their
first white and pink buds. In just a little over a month, we will
welcome you back to experience this spectacle for yourself!

There
are other changes afoot. Our facilities staff has been
rearranging our collection of antique garden ornaments, moving
cherubs from atop the cheek walls of the D-shaped pool to the
Garden of the Gods beds. In addition, two gorgeous urns dating back
to the Blanchard Era have been placed on platforms in the pool
there. And two large greyhounds have been taken out of storage and
now are relaxing on the cheek walls of the stairs leading down to
the Croquet Lawn. By the time we open our gates on May 5, there
will be much more to discover!

We look
forward to welcoming you next month when you can take a
revitalizing stroll through our ever-evolving landscape as well as
enjoy the illuminating on-site tours, delightful concerts, and
informative lectures we have in store for you. Plan
