MAM's new
exhibition,Meryl McMaster:
Chronologies, features luminous, large-scale
photography, audible poetry, and film by renowned Canadian
Indigenous artist Meryl McMaster. This will be the first time that
new works are shown in the United States and a rare opportunity to
experience a range of acclaimed pieces by McMaster in the New York
City/New Jersey area.

To open her new exhibition
of photographic and filmic self-portraiture at Montclair Art
Museum, renowned Canadian Indigenous artist Meryl McMaster
(Red Pheasant Cree Nation, member of Siksika Nation, British,
Dutch) is holding a virtual conversation with Curator of Native American
Art Laura J. Allen.

required. A Zoom link will be sent to participants prior to this
virtual lecture.

Join us each Friday for special programming
including Sketching in the Galleries and Family Scavenger
Hunts. Bring your laptop or other project materials to
the Museum’s Media Lab and enjoy our free wifi. While
there, take a break from work and visit the galleries, or
grab a quick snack or cup of coffee from our Cornerstone
Café as you fuel up for the end of the work week.

Spotlight
on the Collection
|
|

MAM’s bimonthly series, Spotlight on the
Collection, highlights artworks from the permanent
collection and original scholarship by MAM staff. Like
Henry David Thoreau, whose writings inspired him,
Burchfield saw nature as a source of spirituality and was especially
awed by the changing of the seasons. This watercolor is a
view across the backyards from his studio in Gardenville
after a fresh snowfall.
