THE FLICK
March 3 - 12, 2023

The Flick at the Chatham Playhouse

In a run-down movie theater in central Massachusetts, three underpaid employees mop the floors and attend to one of the last 35mm film projectors in the state. Their tiny battles and not-so-tiny heartbreaks play out in the empty aisles, becoming more gripping than the lackluster, second-run movies on screen. With keen insight and a finely tuned comic eye, THE FLICK is a hilarious and heart-rending cry for authenticity in a fast-changing world.

SPRING 2023 After School Theatre Classes

Spring After School Theatre Classes

Chatham Players is offering an eight-week session of after school theatre classes on Fridays from March 24th to May 19th.

All classes will be held at Chatham Community Players, located at 23 Passaic Avenue, Chatham, NJ, and will be taught by Dr. Susan Speidel, theatre arts educator and Education Coordinator for Chatham Players.

  • CREATIVE DRAMA (AGES 6 TO 9) - 3:30 TO 4:30 PM - This fun-filled class builds confidence, self-esteem, and verbal skills through dramatic play, pantomime, theatre games, and improvisation. Students gain acting skills while also learning about themselves and the world around them. ($115)
  • IMPROVISATION FOR ACTORS (AGES 10-16) - 4:30 TO 5:30 PM - This freewheeling class, with no scripts or lines to memorize, helps students focus, listen, and respond with ease. Following the basic rule of "Yes, and..." they will have fun and connect in a casual and safe environment with room to grow. ($115)
  • MUSICAL THEATRE PERFORMANCE (AGES 12-18) - 5:30 TO 6:30 PM - In this class, students focus on one of the core areas of musical theater performance — acting through song.  They will explore how to interpret music and lyrics and gain focus and stage presence by learning both traditional and new musical theatre songs. ($115)

Classes are open to students with all levels of experience, regardless of whether or not they have had previous theatre or acting training.

For enrollment, CLASS REGISTRATION and CLASS PAYMENT are required prior to the start of classes. For any questions, please email Dr. Susan Speidel at ChathamPlayersEducation@gmail.com.
