on a Legacy (30 min), a film that documents the
development of The August Wilson Center for African American
Culture in Pittsburgh, PA. The Film Forum includes a
conversation between film director Billy Jackson and Richard
Wesley, and a live drum and dance performance from Spektrums
Africans.

Month with Free First Thursday: Carnivale

5–9 p.m.
Free First
Thursdays return with a night celebrating the culture of the
African diaspora. The night will include art activities, a
guided tour of MAM's newest exibition, and live music and dance
performances. Come hear the uplifting music of the Afro-Caribbean
Ensemble from the Cail School of Music. They will perform in Leir
Hall until 7:30 p.m.

Conversations in the Cornerstone Café

New Programming at
MAM
Spend the morning with the passionate people who make
the Montclair Art Museum and Montclair itself phenomenal. As part
of the Museum’s Fridays at MAM programming, Casual Conversations
invites community members to sit down and chat with leading public
figures.
On March 3, look for Janet Torsney from the Montclair
Public Library at the Café from 11 a.m.–12 p.m. Everybody welcome.

including Sketching in the Galleries and Family Scavenger
Hunts. Bring your laptop or other project materials to
the Museum’s Media Lab and enjoy our free wifi. While
there, take a break from work and visit the galleries, or
grab a quick snack or cup of coffee from our Cornerstone
Café as you fuel up for the end of the work week.

on the Collection

MAM’s bimonthly series, Spotlight on the
Collection, highlights artworks from the permanent
collection and original scholarship by MAM staff. For
more than 30 years, Cuban-American photographer Abelardo
Morell has captured the magic of photography through the
camera obscura...Since the early 1990s, Morell has
transformed rooms, beginning with his home in Brookline,
Massachusetts and expanding to places far-flung across the
globe.
