WHAT TO PREPARE
The acting segment of
auditions will be by cold reading only. No Monologues will be seen at
this audition. Auditionees should also prepare for and dress
appropriately for a movement audition.

CHARACTERS
The Madam –
Mid-thirties to early forties. A drag queen swaddled in sequins and
velour and the owner of Gomorrah
Night Club. She also serves as the play’s narrator. (Character Pronouns:
She/ Her) Doubles as Mr.
Tesus
Jessie Blade –
Twenties. Earnest and good natured. A real go-getter. Cute and
sprightly. Dreams of becoming a famous dancer. (Character
Pronouns: He / Him / His)
Rudy – Middle-Aged.
The Madam’s aging roommate and confidant. In the middle of a prolonged state of
depression. Very, very dry, with lots of vocal fry. Think April Ludgate
from Parks and Rec. (Character Pronouns: They / Them / Theirs) Doubles
as Ensemble, Skeezy Man, Voiceover
Billie Panache –
Middle-Aged. Jessie’s main antagonist and the lead go-go dancer at
Gomorrah. Has a rattail most can only dream of sporting. (Character
Pronouns: He / Him / His) Doubles as Ensemble, Lesbian Security Guard,
Television Announcer
Muffy Diver –
Thirties. Maybe older. Proprietor of the Muffy Diver Dance Academy; a
loud and proud lesbian. (Character Pronouns: She / Her / Hers) Doubles
as Ensemble, Backup Dancer 2, Stage Manager
Mamma Blade – Older.
Jessie’s overly Christian and mentally unstable mother. (Character
Pronouns: She / Her / Hers) Doubles as Ensemble, Announcer, Doctor,
J.R. (Television Character), Cher
Skip –
Twenties/Thirties. Jessie’s best pal and favorite person to go skinny
dipping with. (Character Pronouns: He / Him / His) Doubles as
Ensemble, Backup Dancer 1, Auditionee 2, Talent Agent Number 3, Hobo

Monica –
Twenties/Thirties. Muffy Diver’s gum-smacking and gossip-loving
secretary.
