April 15, 2023, at 8:00PM Eddie
Palmieri and his Salsa Orchestra
Known as one of the finest pianists of the
past 60 years, Eddie Palmieri
is a bandleader, arranger and composer of salsa and Latin jazz. His playing
skillfully fuses the rhythm of his Puerto Rican heritage with the
complexity of his jazz influences: Thelonious
Monk, Herbie Hancock,
McCoy Tyner as well as his
older brother, Charlie Palmieri.
Influenced by jazz, samba and Brazilian funk, Music from the Sole is a tap
dance and live music company that blurs the line between percussive
dance and music performance and celebrates tap's roots in the
African diaspora. Heralded as "A
JOLT of GOOD ENERGY" by the NY Times, the company
appeared on the Times’ prestigious list of Best Dance Performances of 2022.
Thompson’s influence can’t be overstated. Everybody from Robert Plant, Don Henley, and Elvis Costello to REM, Sleater-Kinney
and David Byrne has covered
his music. In 2017, Ivor Novello Award-winning
and GRAMMY® Award-nominated
legend Richard Thompson gave
himself up to the music itself. Picking up a guitar, emotions
echoed through his deft fleet-fingered fretwork, poetic
songwriting, impassioned picking. Those transmissions comprise his
nineteenth solo album, 13 Rivers.
