TRUE STORY: In 1863, Abraham Lincoln sent his closest
Jewish friend, Issachar
Zacharie, behind Confederate lines to explore a peace
treaty with Confederate Secretary of State Judah P. Benjamin, also
Jewish.
As negotiations to end the Civil War falter, the two
emissaries from opposing sides become locked in a battle over the fate
of Philip Green, an enslaved Black man working for Benjamin, and the
secret of that relationship is unraveled.
