This Week: PHOTO SCAVENGER HUNT: TOTALLY TREES December 1 - December 31 Don't be fooled by winter! There are lots of trees with winter beauty. Use the clues and find them all in this family friendly and fun photo scavenger hunt. Check it out! Cost: $10 per family or group of 6. Preregistration is required.   HOMESCHOOL DAYS: THE BOTANY BEHIND THE HOLLY-DAYS December 15 Learn about holly, poinsettias and mistletoe. How did these plants become part of yearly traditions? Find out and bring home a holiday swag to display and enjoy. *This is a drop off program. Learn more here. Cost: $10 per person. Preregistration is required.   ALWAYS EVERGREEN December 19 Learn the tips of the trade in making a green centerpiece perfect for the holiday table. Preregistration is required.   HIKING THROUGH HISTORY December 20 Adults can take to the trails to discover the history and geology of Pyramid Mountain on this 2.5-mile hike to Bear Rock and the stone ruins of the Morgan place. Preregistration is required.   GOING GREEN December 20 Using seasonal greens and festive supplies, young arrangers will create a winter arrangement perfect for the holiday table. Preregistration is required.   WINTER SOLSTICE CELEBRATION December 21 Join a woodland gathering around a campfire under the the new moon to experience the historical and ceremonial aspects of the winter solstice. Spotlight On: FESTIVAL OF TREES Fridays and Saturdays, December 16, 17, 23, 24  and Tuesday December 27 - December 31 The most wonderful time of the year is almost here! Tour the Frelinghuysen Arboretum's Mansion decorated for the holidays in this first annual Festival of Trees. Trees will be decorated by scouts, families, floral designers and garden clubs in this outing for the family. Learn more here! Cost: $10 per person. Preregistration is required.

Look What’s Coming: WINTER MINI-CAMP December 27 - December 29 Time off from school is a great time to get out in nature and explore! Enjoy walks, crafts, stories, games and activities! On Tuesday, discover all there is to know about the bald eagles that spend the winter in NJ. On Wednesday, explore the world of seeds; search for them on the trails and even invent a seed of your own for our Seed Building Challenge. Thursday is all about snow and ice; compete in an ice cube melting race, take a winter scavenger hunt and much more! Sign up for one or more days, as your schedule allows.
