Art House Productions announces a new play reading of “Sybil & Mary” written by Maddie Dennis-Yates on Monday, December 12. Funded in part by the Hudson County History Partnership Program grant, New Jersey playwright Maddie Dennis-Yates has been developing this play inspired by Sybil's Cave in Hoboken with Art House Productions for the past year.

About the play: Mary Rogers has died and is now trapped spending the afterlife on the wrong side of the Hudson River. The Sybil of Hoboken could help her move on, but The Sybil is distracted. It’s 1841 and she's busy with several women (white, black, married, unmarried, living, dead) who are looking for answers via seance and testing their respective boundaries at a time when danger and opportunity are all around.

Play reading is followed by a Q&A History Panel moderated by Jim Peskin with librarian John Beekman from the Jersey City Library, librarian James Cox from the Hoboken Public Library, dramaturg Emily Dzioba, and playwright Maddie Dennis-Yates.
