November 10-11:Annual NJEA “School’s Out” Mini Camps
Our annual NJEA “School’s Out” Mini Camps are fun,
engaging opportunities for 6–10-year-olds that will spark creativity
and ignite the imagination. We offer 3-hour sessions in the morning or
afternoon, with an optional supervised lunch between sessions.
Thursday, November 10
The Art of Acting Thursday, Nov. 10; 9 am
- 12 noon
Students will learn the foundations of stage
acting in a fun filled three-hour workshop that includes
theatre games such as sound circles, storytelling through
tableaux and improvisation scenes. We will do basic stage
combat, and perform short, scripted scenes.
In this camp students will sketch their
favorite furry or non-furry friend(s) and complete full
portraits in mixed media of their own pet or an animal they
admire. Various mixed media materials and embellishments
will be provided. Please provide a photo(s) from home that
can be used as inspiration and reference.
In this three-hour physical comedy
workshop, actors will practice a variety of bits, sight
gags and caricatures. We will explore the techniques and
styles from different eras of the theatre and hopefully
have a hilarious time while we’re at it!
In this camp each student will use a mirror as
a reference/starting point. Students may use one or a
variety of materials to express their inner feelings
through paint. Campers will be encouraged to express their
thoughts through painterly brush strokes and mark making.
