Festive Fun This Week at SparkNight @ The Zimmerli Art Museum

 

SparkNight: Holiday Cheer & Artful Joy Thursday, December 1 / 4:30 to 8 pm   Meet up with old friends—and make new ones—to kick off the holidays with festive music from Mike Bond Trio, a winter art activity, and cookies from Paparazzi Café.    The evening also spotlights the exhibition The Roar of the Crowd in 19th Century Paris, which closes December 23, with curator-led exhibition tours. Feel inspired by the exhibition? Get creative during a drop-in Styrofoam printmaking workshop.   Plus, stop by the closing reception for Locating Georgia: Selections from the Norton and Nancy Dodge Collection of Nonconformist Art from the Soviet Union, featuring a screening of The Color of Pomegranates (1969; with English subtitles). The film is directed by artist Sergei Parajanov, whose work is featured in the exhibition.   And don't miss these exhibitions before they close December 23: Collective Yearning: Black Women Artists from the Zimmerli (Closes December 11) American Stories: Gifts from the Jersey City Museum Collection Snapshots! December 21 through January 16: Paparazzi Cafe is closed. December 24 through January 2: The museum and Rutgers offices are closed.   Free Admission Wednesday & Friday 11AM–6PM Thursday 11AM–8PM Saturday & Sunday Noon–5PM Galleries are closed Monday & Tuesday, but the lobby is open. Spaces throughout the museum are wheelchair accessible.   Effective October 1, 2022 Face coverings are optional.  Both indoor and outdoor events no longer require attendees  to show proof of full vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test.
