Collaborative
Puppetry Workshop
Saturday,
October 22; 1-4 pm
This experiential workshop for adults is
designed to tell stories through the metaphor of puppetry
while bringing together an ensemble of like-minded
participants to articulate a bunraku style puppet (most
notable, War Horse and Lion King).
Students will learn to create a simple
tabletop puppet with ordinary materials, of string,
paper, and tape. The movement of a tabletop puppet can
only take place as the puppet is lifted into the hands of
at least 2-3 puppeteers working together, with intention,
breath, movement, and practice. Only with collaboration,
will the artistry come to life. No prior puppetry skills
are required.
