Harmonium Choral Society Announces 2022-2023 Concert Season

 




Harmonium Choral Society is pleased to announce their 2022-2023 season for which Artistic Director Dr. Anne Matlack has curated a wealth of cutting-edge repertoire to inspire you and gems of the past to comfort you for all four seasons of the year. 

A Child’s Christmas in Wales

WHEN: Saturday, December 10, 2022, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, December 11, 2022, at 3 p.m.
WHERE: The Presbyterian Church in Morristown, 57 East Park Place, Morristown 

Harmonium will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the premiere performance of A Child’s Christmas in Wales, a Dylan Thomas poem set and composed for Harmonium by New York composer Matthew Harris. Welsh poet Thomas’s work is an anecdotal reminiscence of a Christmas from the viewpoint of a young boy, portraying a nostalgic and simpler time. Also included in the concert are diverse works of winter memories from Ysaye Barnwell to Ralph Vaughan Williams touching on seasonal celebrations of all peoples.

Moondance 

WHEN: Saturday, March 4, 2023, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, March 5, 2023, at 3 p.m.
WHERE:
Morristown United Methodist Church, 50 South Park Place, Morristown. 

Moondance will feature global repertoire about the moon, from Sephardic to Irish, Billings to Van Morrison, accompanied by flute and percussion. Music from well-regarded women composers Susan LaBarr, Lori Laitman, Karen Marolli, and Mari Valverde will be offered as well.

Wellspring

WHEN: Saturday, May 6, 2023, at 7:30 p.m.

Grace Episcopal Church, 4 Madison Avenue at Kings Road, Madison 

WHEN: Sunday, May 7, 2023, at 3 p.m.
WHERE:
Morrow Memorial United Methodist Church, 600 Ridgewood Road, Maplewood.
 

Wellspring is a full concert by the select Harmonium Chamber Singers, celebrating water and the creative spirit. It will include music from Schütz and Brahms to Trevor Weston and Anders Endroth, and there are always some surprises. 

Earthsongs

WHEN: Saturday, June 3, 2023, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, June 4, 2023, at 3 p.m. 
WHERE: 
Calvary Episcopal Church, 31 Woodland Avenue, Summit.

Earthsongs is choral music that celebrates nature’s beauty and calls for its protection, including the winner of the 26th annual High School Student Choral Composition Contest. 

SUBSCRIPTION TICKETS: Plan ahead and enjoy priority seating with a subscription ticket, which includes all four concerts, for $96 for adults and $80 for students and teachers. Subscribers enjoy a 20% savings over single ticket prices. Subscriptions go on sale at https://harmonium-choral-society.square.site/

INDIVIDUAL TICKETS: Individual concert prices for single tickets are $30 for adults and $25 for students and teachers. Tickets for the December concert will be available beginning in mid-October.

Harmonium is excited to bring live music to you – safely. All Harmonium singers are vaccinated and will remain masked during performances. We will require proof of vaccination presented at the door prior to entry into the performance space. Masks are optional during the performance.

Welcome the new year with Harmonium! 

Broadway Cabaret Fundraising Event

WHEN: Saturday, March 25, 2023, 7:30 p.m.
WHERE: 
Ukrainian American Cultural Center of New Jersey, 60 North Jefferson Road, Whippany

An evening of Broadway songs, wine, and appetizers. All proceeds benefit Harmonium’s vision to inspire and enrich our community through music.
