Spend the weekend
exploring MAM's new photography installation, Abelardo
Morell: Projecting Italy. The exhibition highlights twelve tent
camera and camera
obscura photographs taken by world-renowned
photographer Abelardo Morell. The images feature sites in Italy in
honor of the twentieth anniversary of the Center for Italian
Culture at Fitchburg State University.
Morell's exhibition
inaugurates a series of shows at MAM that will focus on the
creative contributions of contemporary American and Native American
photographers.

Abelardo Morell: Projecting Italy was organized by the Fitchburg Art Museum (FAM) where
it was on view last year. The exhibition at FAM was supported
in part by a generous grant from the Amelia V. Gallucci-Cirio
Endowment, Center for Italian Culture, Fitchburg State University.

Bring
12–20 pieces of original work to MAM and receive feedback on
your visual art portfolios from college representatives and art
school admissions officers. You may bring artwork in any
medium, including fine art, photography, fashion, jewelry,
sculpture (if you can carry it), and a sketchbook if available.
If you wish to show digital work, please bring your own laptop
and an additional battery.

Hispanic Heritage Month, this week’s Sunday Studio is inspired by
Cuban artist Abelardo Morell and his exhibition Projecting Italy.
Families will learn how to create a 3-dimensional
“tunnel” book depicting an Italian landscape.

Diwali, the
festival of lights, commemorates a triumph of light over darkness
and is a time for all to gather together and celebrate new
beginnings.
Hosted by AAPI Montclair,
this annual festival honors the diverse, rich traditions of the
South Asian diaspora. Spend the day with us while enjoying live
performances, family-friendly arts and crafts, readings from local
South Asian authors, and sweet and savory bites from popular
neighborhood restaurants and food trucks. Be sure to stay until the
end, when you'll get a chance to learn first-hand how to dance like
a Bollywood star with a surprise guest performance!
