This Week: FALL FARM FUN October 29 - 30 It's the last weekend for Fall fun activities at Fosterfields...Experience the Autumn season the old-fashioned way! Watch apples being pressed into cider, walk through the corn maze, take a wagon ride and pick your own pumpkins! Everything is included with your paid admission! Check it out! Cost: $15 per person. Children aged 2 & under are free.   SCARECROWS IN THE GARDEN Saturday, October 1 - Monday, October 31 It's the last weekend to see the scarecrows at Frelinghuysen Arboretum! Stroll through the gardens and visit the scarecrow display all month long! Cost: FREE.   HOMESCHOOL DAYS: LENAPE LIFE November 1 at Pyramid Mountain Discover how the Lenape Indians of NJ used nature to survive. Play the games Lenape children played, and even make one to take home!  November 15 at Great Swamp Visit an authentic wigwam model in the forest, decorated to look like it's lived in and discover how the Lenape Indians of NJ used nature to survive. Preregistration required.   FALL FOLIAGE FUN November 1 at Pyramid Mountain The leaves are nearing peak fall colors! Join a naturalist for a trail walk to learn about why leaves change color and fall off, and how trees prepare for winter, all while enjoying the colorful display. Click here! Cost: $5 per person. Preregistration is required.   PHOTO SCAVENGER HUNT: ORANGE YOU GLAD? November 1 – November 30 Trees are showing their true colors and will be in their glory this month. Get your eyes ready to look for all sorts of autumn tree clues with this month's Photo Scavenger Hunt. Click here to learn more. Cost: $10 per family or group of 6. Preregistration is required.   KIDS IN THE WILD: PURIFYING WATER November 2 and 12 In this series, kids get into the woods, learning different outdoor skills, meeting other like-minded kids and building confidence. In this session, they learn how to find and purify water for drinking. Find out more! Cost: $10 per child. Preregistration is required.   PRE-K NATURE ON THE FARM October 28, November 3 and November 17 Families with pre-K aged kids will take a walk on the trails and around the farm, learning about the natural world around them. Halloween Programs: HALLOWEEN CRAFT DAY October 28 Happy Halloween! Come to Fosterfields Living Historical Farm to create a spooky seasonal craft to decorate your home. Choose between a ghost, a pumpkin and a witch hat. Cost: Included with cost of admission! No registration required.   TEENY TINY TRAIL TALES October 29 Families with small children will enjoy a guided walk full of silly and nature-themed tales told by costumed storytellers along the decorated trails of the Great Swamp. Wear your own costume too! Sign up in advance for a time slot. Check it out! Cost: $5 per person. Preregistration is required.   SKULLS & BONES October 30 Become a forensic scientist for wildlife as you examine real skulls and bones to determine what animal they came from. Discover the 4 types of mammal teeth as you crunch on carrots and apple slices and then guess what animals eat by looking at the teeth in their skulls. Learn more here! Cost: $6 per person. Look What’s Coming: APPLE CIDERING DEMONSTRATION Saturday and Sundays in November: 5, 6, 12, 13, 19, 20, 26 and 27 Find out why you’ve been looking at apples upside down your whole life and help make fresh apple cider by hand with an old-fashioned cider press. Groups will be small, so register soon to reserve your spot!   APPLE CIDERING FOR LITTLES November 5, 9 and 27 Since the little ones are too young for our regular apple cidering demonstrations, the GSOEC is offering three special sessions just for them. Preregistration is required.   PARANORMAL EVENINGS: THE WILLOWS November 5 Join staff and paranormal investigators as we investigate the spectres inside The Willows mansion. S’MORE FUN TRAIL RUN & 1-MILE FAMILY FUN RUN/WALK November 13 The S’more Fun Trail run features a chip timed 5k race or a 1-mile family fun run/walk at Central Park of Morris County’s cross-country course.
