One River School of Art + Design is excited to present an exhibition of recent works by Jared Deery in its Allendale contemporary art gallery. The opening, on Saturday, October 15th, is from 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm and features an Artist Talk at 2:00 pm.
Jared Deery born in Philadelphia in 1980, moved to Brooklyn, New York in 1998, where he lives and works. Deery received his BFA with honors in 2001 from Pratt Institute and his MFA at Hunter College in 2009. He has exhibited across the US, Europe and Japan and has participated in the Salone del Mobile in Italy and the Saint-Etienne Design Biennale in France with collaborative projects. His work is in private collections in New York, Chicago, Denver, Japan and Italy.
Deery's paintings are concerned primarily with the imaginary, transcendental, and fantastical elements found within nature. For Deery, the process itself of making a painting is integral to the outcome. Combinations of color and texture, varied through each layer of his paintings, give rise to mysterious works of art that are both recognizable through their biomorphic forms and obfuscated by their own rich complexity. Through implementations of different motifs, such as the still life and landscape, Deery creates colorful explorations of space and form, abundant in art historical reference and playful irreverence.
