Described as “power players” by The Los Angeles Times, the Horszowski Trio has performed to sold-out houses and critical acclaim across the United States and around the world. For their Morris Museum debut, they will play a program that probes the depths of our humanity through three pieces including the U.S. premiere of Louis Karchin’s “Trio for violin, cello, and piano” alongside works by Smetana and Shostakovich.

About the Performers

In March 2019, the Horszowski Trio made its London debut in a sold-out concert presented by Wigmore Hall. In the same season, they also appeared at the 92nd Street Y in New York City; the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia; Schubert Club in Saint Paul, Minnesota; Spivey Hall in Atlanta; Bowdoin Music Festival in Maine; UCLA in Los Angeles; Dresden’s Moritzburg Festival (Germany); and venues in Boston, San Francisco, Canada, and Japan, among others. In addition, they released a recording of the complete piano trios by Robert Schumann on AVIE Records, receiving tremendous acclaim: “great care and affection” (BBC Radio); “intoxicating” (Gramophone); “exciting and deeply felt” (Strings); “fresh, supple and fantastic” (The Strad).

From the creators of The Other Mozart comes a new music-theater piece about the web of clashing myths, beliefs, symbols, and decrees surrounding the life of Mary Magdalene. Playwright/performer Sylvia Milo and composer and percussionist Nathan Davis will give the World Premiere of their latest collaboration, i am the utterance of my name: Divining Mary Magdalene, which was created partially while in residence at Live Arts at the Morris Museum.


 

Rio Clemente

Morristown’s very own Rio Clemente returns to the Bickford Theatre with a program of original works and classics from the American Song Book. Rio earned his place as the reigning jazz pianist of Morristown after a career of major achievements including appearances at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Newport Jazz Festival, the White House and United Nations.

 

Orpheus & Angela Hewitt play Bach

Wednesday, Nov. 16 | 8:00 PM

The internationally acclaimed, Grammy-Award winning, Orpheus Chamber Orchestra returns to the Morris Museum after their SOLD-OUT performance last April. Joined by one of the foremost interpreters of Bach’s music, Angela Hewitt, Orpheus will undertake a total of four keyboard and one flute concerto in the intimacy of the Bickford Theatre.

 

Water Gap Jazz Orchestra: Nutcracker and Grinch Suites

Sunday, Dec. 11 | 3:00 PM

The Water Gap Jazz Orchestra is a 17-piece big band comprised of the highest caliber professional musicians in the tri-state area. Hear their Morris Museum debut with Duke Ellington’s holiday classic, The Nutcracker Suite and the new Grinch Suite written by WGJO director, Matt Vashlishan.
