WOOLPUNK®: Sunflowers
& Graffiti’d Sky in the Garden State
Created
specifically for MAM, Sunflowers Graffiti’d Sky in the Garden
State is based on a photograph of a community garden in
the artist’s hometown of Jersey City, New Jersey. Printed on a
large-scale banner, this image has been transformed through
embroidery stitched by hand by the artist.
Using only recycled
fabric, WOOLPUNK®’s mission is to draw attention to clothing waste
and landfill issues in the state of New Jersey and beyond.
The featured image
is just a small segment of the impressive 30 x 13 foot mural
hanging in Laurie Art Stairway. Hidden within, are an array of
pop culture references and text that WOOLPUNK® incorporated in
not-so-plain sight. Spend an afternoon trying to uncover the rest,
including MAM's logo.
