Get Creative This Summer

watercolor painting

Plein Air Watercolor Painting on the Terrace

Saturday, June 25
10am - 2pm

Join illustrator and instructor Lena Shiffman for a plein air watercolor workshop on the HAM terrace this summer. During this four hour program, participants will explore composition, color, and watercolor painting techniques while taking inspiration from the scenic landscape surrounding the Museum. A large tented area will provide cover for this rain or shine program.

Sketching in Watercolor on the Terrace

Saturday, July 9
10am - 2pm

Join illustrator Lena Shiffman for a fun and relaxing watercolor workshop outdoors under a tent on the HAM terrace. Learn how to sketch with your watercolors, forgetting about pencil lines and instead becoming loose and free with your paint. Students will be painting different objects from life, creating work that appears fresh and effortless. Some knowledge about watercolor will be helpful, but not necessary. All levels welcome.

paint the modern landscape

Paint the Modern Landscape

2 Available Sessions: Saturday, July 16 & Saturday, July 23
10am - 1pm

We will be working on learning how to see differently, understand what’s important (this may surprise you), simplify what’s there, and understand color and how it creates depth and drama. This workshop will take place outdoors, rain or shine, under a covered tent on the Museum’s terrace. Please bring a minimum of 1-2 canvases, small to medium 8 x 10, 10 x 10, 11 x 14, 16 x 20, 12 x 20, or whatever what you feel comfortable with.

Monday Nights on the Terrace: Paint Party Wine & Design

Mondays in July & August (July 11 - August 22)
7 - 9pm

Gather your friends for paint party madness! Try your artistic hand at still life and landscape painting in our scenic terrace. This is an outdoor class underneath one of our tents. From beginners to advanced, all students are welcome. Our instructor will guide you through the workshop, and you will walk away with a gorgeous art piece. A new project will be offered each week!
