present by Jerry Pinkney, one of America’s most renowned children’s
book illustrators.
From My Home
to Yours: Sunset Live Score and Screenings with Laura Ortman

MAM launches a
three-part Indigenous performance series in conversation with the
new cinematic installation From My Home to Yours with a
special outdoor evening featuring exhibition artist Laura Ortman
(White Mountain Apache).
With a palette of foot pedals, clouds of rosin, and
multi-instrumental mastery, Ortman will perform her atmospheric
score to an exterior projection of the film, followed by a
screening of acclaimed short films by Ortman and her collaborator,
Caroline Monnet (Anishinaabe/French).
Montclair Art
Museum and Montclair Early Music present Jubilee, A Celebration of African American Music.
African Dance and Drum ensemble from Montclair State University will
begin the program. The program will include singing, dancing, and
poetry with audience participation.
The highlight of
the afternoon will be a performance by Emily O’Brien, a
professional recorder soloist from Boston, who will perform
“Oracle," a composition by award-winning contemporary African
American composer Melika Fitzhugh. Emily will be
accompanied by a string quartet from APEX ensemble.
