May 27 at Great Swamp and June 9 at Pyramid Mountain

How hard is it to build a nest that is sturdy, comfortable, and camouflaged? After examining real birds' nests for clues, try your hand at making a home that a bird would approve of. Play a wild game about what it's like to be a parent or baby bird, and finish with a craft that will help birds around your house make their nests. Click here for more info.

June 1 - June 30

The magic of summer is here and it's time to look for winged friends in the garden. Grab your camera and explore the gardens for plants, herbs and flowers that attract butterflies, bees and hummingbirds. Who knows? You might even spy a Midsummer Fairy! Learn more here!

Mountain Laurel Stroll at Great Swamp - June 2

The Mountain Laurel shrubs at the Great Swamp have burst into bloom, decorating the trails with white and shades of pink.  Enjoy a walk on the orange trail with a naturalist to view the blooms and learn some surprising facts about this native shrub, like why it's been called "the fastest flower in the East" or why honey made from its nectar is called "Mad Honey." Mountain Laurel Hike at Pyramid Mountain - June 5

The mountain laurel shrubs on Pyramid Mountain have burst into bloom, decorating the trails with white and shades of pink. Enjoy a morning hike along the ridgeline with a naturalist to view the blooms and learn some surprising facts about this native shrub.  Bring water and wear appropriate footwear for this 3-mile hike over uneven terrain. Get a feel for what life was like for the Lenni-Lenape of NJ hundreds of years ago!  Tour our decorated model wigwam, examine stone and wooden tools, learn the games Lenape children played, and try making a fire with a bow drill. Learn more here.
