Learn how herbs were used in the early American household. After visiting our herb garden, you will create a unique herb garden to take home. Check it out!

Tree IDTREE IDENTIFICATION FOR ADULTS

May 1

Curious about how botanists identify trees? Join a naturalist to learn how to use a dichotomous key & tree guide. Examine leaves, branching and bark and learn all the proper vocabulary for describing tree characteristics. Free tree guide to common trees provided, but feel free to bring your own. Learn to grow the National Flower of Mexico -- the dahlia. Young green thumbs will propogate from both seed and tubers and discover which grows faster, and maybe better.  Sign me up!

Uncover the alien invasive plants and animals that threaten the lives of our native species as well as the biodiversity of our natural areas. May is peak time for the arrival of colorful migrant birds to our area.  Join a naturalist to identify birds by sight and sound along the trails.  Bring binoculars or borrow ours.  All are welcome: beginner to expert! Check it out!

It’s time for a haircut! Visit Fosterfields and watch master shearer, Margaret Quinn, demonstrate how to properly shear a sheep, the old-fashioned way. Timed entries throughout day. Click here for more info!
