Morris Family Concerts: A Day of Irish Culture

Derek Warfield and the Young Wolfe Tones: 5:00 pm

 

 

 

Following the St. Patrick's Day Parade, continue the celebration of Irish culture with two events at Mayo Performing Arts Center, presented by Knights of Columbus Local Chapter 359. 

An interactive children’s concert will be held at 2:30pm featuring various artists, bag pipers and step dancers. Kids can meet the performers and learn some steps, see how the bag pipe works and other activities. 

There is also a 5:00pm concert by Derek Warfield and the Young Wolfe Tones. Derek Warfield is a singer, songwriter, mandolin player and a founding member of the Wolfe Tones, performing with the band for nearly thirty-seven years, writing and recording over 60 songs.

Celebrate Women's History Month at MPAC in a brand-new tribute show that honors the music of a true icon, Aretha Franklin!

Alongside an accomplished cast of jazz, soul and gospel musicians and vocalists, the show features another iconic woman: Karen Clark Sheard, the Grammy, Stellar and Dove Award-winning gospel vocalist and songwriter. A gospel music legend and a part of a musical dynasty, Clark Sheard is renowned throughout the music industry for her signature, one-of-a-kind multi-octave vocal range and ability.

Aretha Franklin is recognized as the most successful female recording artist in history. Musician, vocalist, and composer Damien Sneed pays homage to the Queen of Soul with fresh renditions of her most cherished hits. Backed by an accomplished cast of jazz, gospel, and soul musicians and vocalists, including four-time GRAMMY® Award-winner Karen Clark Sheard of the legendary gospel group The Clark Sisters, this multi-media tribute is a tender and spiritual reflection upon the life of a music icon.
